Yajuj and Majuj

Ya"juj wa Ma"juj (Gog and Magog)

These two warring and violent human communities are mentioned in the Holy Qur-an twice. They will fill up large portions of Jahannam (Hell). [Sahih Bukhari]

It is stated in Surah (Chapter) al-Kahf (The Cave), the eighteenth chapter of the Holy Qur-an, that they were settled behind a mountain and attacked other people from weaker communities living across it.

Dhul Qarnayn, with the Blessings of Allah (God), a just king reached that mountain pass after conquering all territories in-between. There, he found a weak community that was continuously hounded by Ya"juj and Ma"juj (Gog and Magog), who were killing their members whenever they ventured close to the mountain pass separating them.

Until, when he reached between two mountains, he found, before (near) them (those two mountains), a people who scarcely understood a word.

The oppressed community requested Dhul Qarnayn to seal the mountain-pass permanently.

They said: "O Dhul-Qarnain! Verily! Ya"juj and Ma"juj (Gog and Magog) are doing great mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute in order that you might erect a barrier between us and them?

He said: "That (wealth, authority and power) in which my Lord had established me is better (than your tribute). So help me with strength (of men), I will erect between you and them a barrier.
Surah (Chapter)
Al-Kahf (The Cave) The Qur-an 18:93-95

They created a solid barrier made of iron and brass that permanently separated the two communities. It made them safe against the violence of Ya"juj and Ma"juj.

He said: "That (wealth, authority and power) in which my Lord had established me is better (than your tribute). So help me with strength (of men), I will erect between you and them a barrier.
