is the Arabic word for ginger. The botanical name for ginger is
Zingiber officinale rose. It is mentioned in the Holy Qur-an.

The residents
of Paradise would be served drinks laced with ginger. Arabs
of pre-Islamic Arabia used to tinge their wine with ginger. Islam
imposed a total prohibition on all intoxicants including wine. Allah
(God) promised to give them their favorite drink in Jannah
(Paradise).
